I’ve been sitting with that question a lot since Protect CurlMix ended.
What this campaign gave me was more than 20,000 orders.
It gave me clarity.
And there were three lessons that changed how I’m thinking about the future of this company.
Lesson #1: Lean marketing works.
We achieved 20,000 orders in 2 months with a marketing team of 2.5 people.
I’m one of them.
No giant agency.
No massive budget.
Just focus, discipline, and telling the truth.
It reminded me that CurlMix doesn’t need excess to grow, it needs intention.
Lesson #2: Community is the engine.
Protect CurlMix would have never happened without our core CurlMixers.
Especially our Facebook group of CurlMixers.
You don’t just buy products, you show up, share, encourage, and tell our story when it matters most.
That group continues to be my pride and joy.
Thank you for being the heartbeat of CurlMix.
Lesson #3: Building in public creates trust.
I’m often asked for updates on the business and how we’re doing, what’s hard, what’s next.
Sharing transparently while protecting sensitive information isn’t easy.
But building toward 20,000 orders showed me something important:
We can share the journey responsibly and it brings us closer together.
That’s what led me to a decision for 2026.
Next year, I want to ' BUILD CurlMix ' to 100,000 orders.
Not quietly.
Not behind the scenes.
But in PUBLIC.
Because 100,000 orders means more jobs.
It means continuing to manufacture in Chicago.
It means deeper impact in our community and a stronger future for CurlMix.
So in 2026, I’ll be sharing weekly updates as we build.
What’s working, what’s hard, and what it really takes to grow CurlMix the right way.
This next chapter isn’t about survival.
It’s about construction.

I saw your interview on Roland Martin’s podcast, and usually don’t use much in the way of hair products. It was an eye opener to learn of your company and it’s contributing to the local (Chicago) Community. I have a former volleyball player of mine who could definitely use what you have to offer. It will be cool to get her feedback on what she thinks.
I have never tried the curlmix products. This will be my first. However, I saw the cause and the need and Absolutely had to support. It is my Passion and Esteem to support Black-Owned from this point forward. I am intentional and true to my own. May God bless you in your 2026 endeavor and the years ahead.
I ‘ve been a curl mixer for three years and also an investor, I love curlmix and such joy came to my heart seeing women uplifting women. I’m sure some men participated but to witness that kind of support you know you have a good group. Congratulations Kim and Curlmix Let’s do THIS.🙏🏼
