Hi, I'm Kim
I created CurlMix to serve curly women who wanted clean, natural, safe, and effective hair products.

1997
My First Relaxer
When I was 6 years old, my grandmother relaxed my hair, against my mother's request. My mother was so upset, and that led to 13 years of relaxers to acheive "straight hair" so I could feel "beauitful" and fit in at school.
2010
MY BIG CHOP
Sophomore year in college, I was inspired to go natural by my mother and several girls wearing their afros on campus. That semester, I cut all of my hair off in my dorm room.

CurlMix Launch
I wanted to help other women embrace and celebrate their natural beauty, the same way my mother did for me. We launched a 4 step system to help you master your curls.
FAQ
Will my products be all natural and organic?
Yes, we will only provide natural and/or organic ingredients. We keep our labels simple, so you can understand exactly what is going on your hair & body. All ingredient information is on each individual product page.
Do I need to refrigerate them?
No, the water-based products include a preservative. This includes all of our products except any pure oil formulas. Putting them in the refrigerator does help them last longer but is not required. Unopened, they have a 2 year shelf life and after it is opened, 1 year.
What if I'm allergic to a few things?
Ingredients may have been derived from corn, soy, wheat, and/or nut products. They may have also been produced in a facility that makes those products.
We recommend conducting an "Area/Patch Test" as described below.
Area/Patch Test: This test allows you to test a small area of your skin for 24 hours before applying the treatment to a larger area. We recommend rubbing the CurlMix mixture on the skin near your elbow, covering it with a bandage for 24 hours and if there is no allergic response (redness, itchiness,swelling) then apply the treatment as directed in the instructions. If you have an allergic reaction, we do not recommend the use of CurlMix and suggest that you seek a medical professional’s consultation.
What preservative do you use?
Optiphen PLUS
We use a safe and natural preservative called Optiphen PLUS. It is a paraben and formaldehyde-free preservative as well. It's ideal for preserving natural products that are used on the hair and skin. It offers both safe & effective protection against bacteria, yeast and mold growth, making products last longer and safer to use.
How long will my CurlMix products last?
Approximately 2 years if unopened. Once opened, store in a cool dry place. It can last one year once opened.

Are CurlMix products safe to use on color treated hair?
Yes, they are.

Like most, I found this product on Shark Tank and I decided to give it a try! I bet those sharks regret not making a better offer because wow, I really love this gel!!! It's replaced my other gels from brands that I love! I hope they come out with more products with the same scent! (Lemon Cream). I find that it give my curls a nice hold without them feeling stiff or weighed down. My curls are so bouncy, defined, and soft!

This product feels great in my hair! It smells delicious, isn't greasy or oily, and my hair feels soft. I don't use a lot of the gel and I get soft definition and way less frizz. Love it, wish I could afford the whole product line.

I’ve always loved gels but this one right here!! I get so much definition, volume, hold, and moisture that I quickly became a regular buyer! My hair will be moisturized until I wash it again.(about 4-7 days)The scent is amazing, I don’t have enough good things to say about this gel. I wish I could buy a bigger bottle of this because I used it every single wash day. It is my new holy grail.

The soften formula is very light and can be too light for my grey coils. I've finally got it figured out with the best application for my hair. Applying the gel, matching avocado moisturizer and then a bit more gel resulted in awesome results.

In my other review, I reviewed the moisturizer and gel together because I used them together. As soon as I put the moisturizer on a section, I followed it with the gel. So I really can't tell whether it's the moisturizer, the gel, or both that I am in love with. When I am done with the lemon, I will probably try the others to see which I like the best. However, I have no complaints on the lemon. Wonderful products!

Out of all the products I've used this is by far the best. My hair is naturally curly and I've been testing products for 30 years and yes in 30 years I've not found a product that makes my curls so soft, frizz free and perfectly defined. Its 100% was and go. No need to finger curl or anything. I love this product.

Best Braid Out I’ve ever experienced on my 4a hair! I bought the sampler box (amazing value) but this is my absolute favorite out of all of them! Left my curls looking defined without feeling crunchy and the stretch lasted for days after. Absolutely love it!

It was easy to work with. I usually don’t like my hair on first day Hair. Loved it! I like the fact that it did not change the color of my gray. It was light weight and did not weigh my hair down.
