Hi, I'm Kim.
I started CurlMix because I struggled with my own curly hair. It took me 19 years of relaxers to learn that my natural hair is beautiful, and I wanted to know exactly what was in my products.
I built CurlMix in Chicago. We're Black-owned, Black-operated and backed by thousands of our own customers. I wanted to make it easy to find what your curls love, so we put 10 of our favorites in one box for just $10 each.

We said no to a Shark. Then we said yes to you.
On Shark Tank, Robert Herjavec offered us $400,000. We turned it down. He didn't know curly hair, and we didn't think he was the right partner for the women we serve.
So we went to the people who did know: our community. 9,000 individual investors, most of them Black women, invested in CurlMix, anywhere from $150 to thousands of dollars each. In May 2021, it was the largest campaign on Wefunder at the time.
