JOB TITLE: COSMETIC CHEMIST

CLASSIFICATION:  FULL-TIME  SALARIED - $70K< PER YEAR

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in chemistry, cosmetic or pharmaceutical science, or microbiology
• 5+ years of recent experience in formulations and product development 
• Strong skills in math, including algebra and statistics 
• Excellent analytical skills
• Ability to follow a written formulation/direction
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Ability to build and maintain relationships easily
• Ability to focus on multiple projects at once
• High attention to detail
• Highly proactive with little direction needed

 Other Qualifications:

• Knowledge of the cosmetic industry
• Excellent time-management skills
• Understanding of the process of scaling up a product in order to manufacture and package it successfully
• Computer literate in various databases and software programs
• Ability to adhere to an expectation of complete confidentiality on all business matters
• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with a diverse range of people and job functions
• Strong collaborator who works well independently or on team projects
• High level of initiative and exceptional problem solving skills

 Job Overview:

The Cosmetic Chemist/Formulator will develop and test new hair care products, write technical reports, and prepare solutions used in laboratory procedures.  Duties include: 

• Assist in the lab build-out 
• Producing new formulas weekly for testing
• Contribute to the expansion and improvement of current CurlMix formulations and products
• Assisting in the creation of a wide variety of future CurlMix products e.g. shampoos, conditioners, gels, etc.;
• Testing products for stability;
• Planning and Quality Assurance;
• Presenting research reports to executive staff;
• Identifying new/improved formulation technologies/raw materials and implement them as needed
• Scaling of existing formulas (from lab batches to larger production batch sizes) and for production and development of cosmetics, with emphasis on liquid foundation products
• Proactively scan and research new marketing concepts, raw materials, and technical opportunities
• Follow established product launch timelines and provide project status updates
• Perform other duties and projects as assigned by the CEO
