Inside the CurlMix Factory Move: The Final Stretch
By Kim Lewis, CEO & Co-Founder
If you're reading this, chances are you're waiting on a 10 for 10 order.
First, thank you.
Second, I'm sorry.
I know this isn't the update you were hoping for, and it certainly isn't the one I wanted to write.
When we moved your shipping date from June to July, I truly believed we were going to make it. At the time, we had every reason to believe production would stay on schedule.
Unfortunately, within the last week we learned that we're still waiting on a few critical ingredients needed to complete production.
That means many of your orders are going to arrive later than we promised.
I hate writing those words.
I know trust is earned, and I know every delay makes that harder.
Rather than simply sending another apology email, I wanted to invite you behind the scenes so you can see exactly what's happening inside CurlMix.
Because you deserve the truth.

Where We Are Today
The good news is that we're not standing still.
Far from it.
Over the past several months our team has been working through one of the biggest transitions in CurlMix history.
Here's what we've accomplished:
✅ Successfully transitioned manufacturing to our new production partner
✅ Moved equipment and inventory
✅ Qualified new manufacturing processes
✅ Began producing thousands of products
✅ Prepared orders for shipment
We're incredibly close.
The only thing standing between us and shipping every order is a handful of delayed ingredients.
Manufacturing is funny that way.
You can have thousands of bottles ready...
Thousands of labels printed...
Boxes stacked...
Employees ready...
And one ingredient can pause the entire process.
There are 300 materials needed to ship a freshly made 10 for $10.
And ONE ingredient delay can halt the entire project.
Updated Shipping Timeline
Here's our best estimate based on what we know today.
Approximately 2,000 orders placed before June 15th
These products are already being manufactured.
We expect them to begin shipping in early August, with most customers receiving their packages during the second week of August.
Remaining orders
A smaller group of orders (Orders placed June 16th - July 17th) containing Luscious Lotus is waiting on one final ingredient.
We currently expect those orders to begin shipping around the end of August and beginning of September at the latest.
This supplier of the Anti-Frizz ingredient gave our pre-paid order to another client, which is delaying all of these orders.
We fussed about this but it is ultimately out of our control.
If anything changes—good or bad—you'll hear it from me.
In the meantime, we have been busy emptying the factory.

Why We Won't Cut Corners
One question I've asked myself repeatedly over the last few days is...
"Could we just substitute something and ship faster?"
The answer is no.
Every CurlMix formula is made intentionally.
Every ingredient serves a purpose.
We could rush.
We could compromise.
But that's not the company we've spent the last ten years building.
I'd rather deliver your order late than send you something that doesn't meet our standards.
I know that doesn't erase the frustration.
But I hope it explains why we've made this decision.
A Small Thank You
When your shipping date moved from June to July, we added a $50 CurlMix store credit to every affected order.
This happened June 1st.
Because of this additional delay, we've now added another $50 credit to your account.
We added this July 15th.
That means you now have $100 in CurlMix credit to use on any in-stock products.
Unlike your preorder, those products ship within two business days.
You can use the store credit on 50 items currently in stock that are in the 10 for $10.
We've got some Brown Sugar Baby Deep Conditioners, Honey Shampoo, Pineapple Gel and more!
Check your email to access the store credit.
It's a small way of saying thank you for your patience while we work through this final stretch.
The Moment That Reminded Me Why This Matters
One afternoon, Zuri and Zizi wanted to help.

So we gave them labels and let them join the team.
Watching them carefully place labels on bottles made me smile.
It also reminded me why I've fought so hard to keep CurlMix alive.
There were moments earlier this year when I honestly wasn't sure we'd make it.
The financial pressure was overwhelming.
The factory move felt impossible.
Some days I questioned whether we'd survive.
But every day, this community kept showing up.
Every preorder.
Every encouraging email.
Every order.
Every word of support.
You gave us another chance.
I'll never forget that.

This Really Is the End of the Preorder Era

For many of you, the obvious question is...
"Will this happen again?"
Our goal is no.
The entire reason we've gone through this incredibly difficult transition is so we can return to operating like a normal beauty company.
Instead of waiting months for products...
We want them sitting on shelves.
Ready to ship.
Ready to arrive at your doorstep within days.
That's the future we're building.
This preorder wasn't meant to become the way CurlMix operates.
It was a bridge.
A bridge that helped us survive long enough to build something stronger.
We're almost across it.
Come September, we plan to only sell what's in stock.
Questions We've Been Hearing
Can I request a refund?
Absolutely.
If waiting no longer works for you, our customer experience team will gladly help.
Of course, we hope you'll stay with us through these final few weeks, but we completely understand if you need to make a different decision.
Please send an email to help@curlmix.com .
Can I use my $100 store credit now?
Yes.
Any in-stock item ships within two business days, so you're welcome to use your credit immediately.
Will you continue sharing updates?
Absolutely.
One thing we're committed to doing differently is communicating more frequently.
We'll continue sharing photos, production updates, and progress until every single preorder has shipped.
Thank You

Ten years ago, CurlMix started in my kitchen.
Today, we're building the next chapter of our company.
Not because everything went according to plan.
But because thousands of people believed in us enough to keep going.
I know this delay is disappointing.
I'm disappointed too.
But I'm also incredibly hopeful.
Because once we get through these next few weeks, we'll finally be able to leave this chapter behind and focus on what we love most: creating products that help you love your curls.
Thank you for believing in CurlMix.
Thank you for believing in me.
We'll keep working until every single order is in your hands.
With grit + gratitude,
Kim Lewis

I have received several emails about a store credit. I have logged in and clicked on store credit there’s nothing to open. How do you access the store credit? Does it apply to your cart automatically? When does it expire?
Hi Kim and staff,
I received several emails stating I will receive a store credit one for $50 and another for an additional $50, but each emails lead me in a loop back to the “update” email stating to check my email for the credit.
Please help with the store credit. While I wait for my bundle, I could really use other products.
Thank you,
Calicia
I dont see my 100.00 discount
It’s the end of July and I have not yet received my order. I also don’t see my $100 in credits, even though I keep getting messages to check my email and that it is expiring soon. The discount does not apply when I try to check out. What is the code to use? When does the code/credit expire? Where is my order? I have been unable to reach a direct, personal response about this. Please help! Thank you.
When does the store credit expire? I do not see it in my account. I don’t want to lose out on redeeming it? What is the code to use when ordering?
