This week has been a whirlwind!
So I am sharing it with the people who matter most...
You guys! :)
At CurlMix, we value transparency and women-owned businesses.
That said, I strive to share as much as I can about our business and what goes on behind the scenes.
I want you to be inspired and know that entrepreneurship is within reach.
Story Time
Two weeks ago I felt pretty down.
We had been rejected from nearly all of the programs I applied to.
I felt like something was missing because I came so close to winning, so many times, just to fail in the end.
Honestly, I was feeling overwhelmed and having a hard time getting out of bed in the morning.
Side Note: That's one of the main reasons I love your feedback emails and good reviews because, on days like those, your encouragement makes me smile.
After weeks of stress had piled up, I felt like quitting.
In an effort to keep pressing forward, I reached out to DNA Info Chicago to do a feature on CurlMix.
The writer forwarded me to another journalist, they interviewed me and told me the write up would be shared later that week.
Though I was very grateful for the opportunity, I really didn't think it would go very far and I knew there was so much more to be done.
I would need more than just one feature to launch our new line, or so I thought...
What happened next completely blew me away!
After some really tough weeks, my life changed in a matter of days.
It all started Monday, March 13th. Tim and I woke up to the sounds of our phones blowing up with notifications.
We both looked at each other confused, and sleepy trying to figure out what in the world was going on.
We checked our phones, and immediately asked each other, "What did you do?!"
Little did we know, that morning the DNA Info feature on CurlMix went live on their front page.
Sales, text messages, and emails came flooding in.
People were congratulating us and asking questions about the CurlMix Party Tour
It caught us completely off guard, but we were extremely grateful.
We thought it couldn't get any better but the good news kept coming.
The Good Times Keep On Rolling
Not only were we featured in DNA Info, that same day a reporter from Allure Magazine reached out for a feature too
We were on cloud nine after we made the front page.
Allure was super excited to get the sneak peak at our new product line, chosen by our lovely CurlMixers.
Later that day, just when we thought things couldn't get any better we were invited to be on TV for the first time.
We were guest on the ABC Chicago's Windy City Live where we got to mix up CurlMix on the air with the host Val Warner.

New Changes for CurlMix on the Horizon
Big things are happening at CurlMix in the next month.
After months of applying to accelerators and incubators and getting rejected over and over again...
CurlMix was finally accepted into WiSTEM at 1871, the #1 co-working space here in Chicago.
It is the largest Tech Hub in the country!
WiSTEM or Women in STEM is a mentorship and training program sponsored by Google that focuses on growing women-owed businesses.
This will be a huge factor for CurlMix's growth and we are looking forward to all the cool new things we will be doing as a company.
New Product Line
And to top it off, we are launching our new line next week.
Make sure to get on the mailing list to be the first to know when it drops.
Honestly, my life went from hermit entrepreneur who is always working in the house, to busy bee, networking, local celeb, entrepreneur lol in a matter of weeks, from one article.
I am forever grateful to Andrea, the lovely lady who wrote the DNA Info Article, and to you, my CurlMixers.
You'll never know how much I love you guys!
Thank you for rocking with us and supporting me, it means the world to me.
Love ya!
Kim
