Here’s a scary hair fact: one out of twelve hair brands contain ingredients that are harmful for your curls and your health. It's incredibly important to be intentional and conscious of what you're putting into your curls!
Wondering what are the essential ingredients to look for while shopping for your curls? We have the golden list for you:
Water
Hydration will always be a top priority!
Your curls need lubrication inside and out, and water is the number one lubricant for hair.
All other ingredients work with water to either seal in moisture or further penetrate the water.
If water isn’t listed first on the label, put the product down Curlfriend!
Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera is a humectant, which means it helps the hair and scalp retain and preserve moisture.
Plus, it’s full of nourishing vitamins such as Vitamin A, C, and E, which are all important for promoting overall hair growth!
Organic Argan Oil
This oil acts as a sunblock for your curls! Argan Oil, which is high in essential fatty acids, helps improve the health of your scalp. (A healthy scalp is a major key to achieving hair growth.)
Additionally, Argan Oil contains Vitamin E and omega fatty acids that provide moisture and protection to damaged hair shafts.
Slippery Elm Extract
Slippery Elm Extract produces mucilage, which is essential for adding a ton of slip to your curls.
It’s also full of amino acids, which help build up your hair proteins.
This tree bark is especially a gift for dry, brittle hair; it has moisturizing properties that also promote shinier curls!
Organic Castor Oil
Castor Oil increases the flexibility of your curls, which leads to decreasing the chance of breakage.
This oil is especially helpful for anyone who experiences dandruff; apply to your scalp to moisturize any dryness and reduce flaking.
Avocado Oil
Avocado Oil is rich in oleic acid and monounsaturated fats, making it one of the few oils that can actually penetrate your hair shaft and moisturize your strands (instead of sitting on top and coating your curls!).
The fats found in avocado oil also strengthen your hair strands and help prevent breakage.
There you have it, CurlMixer! Next time you’re out shopping for your curls, remember to take a double look to ensure that these essentials made the list.
