This has been an explosive year for our brand—with sales booming to the tune of $1M in sales. And we’ve had quite the journey, starting out as a DIY box for curly hair and blossoming into what we are now—thanks to your help. Two years after our inception, we noticed you, our customers, were buying the same boxes from us over and over. So, we turned those boxes that you loved into a haircare line that you now see on your shelves today.

After our primetime television debut, we’ve been fielding a lot of questions about the way we do things and what sets us apart. So, here’s a look into what makes our brand special for the uninitiated:

OUR INGREDIENTS

 At CurlMix, we manufacture our own products. We are literally boiling real flaxseeds that you would normally eat and extracting the gel from them and then putting it right in a bottle and shipping it directly to you. In essence, we’ve created food for your hair. Our ingredients are also organic and high-quality, which allows us to minimize the preservatives. Handmade, hand-mixed, and hand-poured is what we’re all about.

OUR STAFF

 We have almost twenty employees, many of whom reside in the Chicago area. We take pride in employing residents of the city’s South Side because it’s where our founders grew up and it’s the area we hope to have an impact on with our small business. Our staff is comprised of people of color and we pay them well: with everyone making a living wage starting at $15/hr. and up.

We offer premium, clean products in the hair space and we want to do much more than just deliver them to you and disappear until you need a refill. We provide a ton of education on how to do your hair and how to use our products, so you’re getting the maximum return on your investment and your best hair ever. Not only do we provide a four-step system that encapsulates veritably everything you’ll need to have fantastic curls & coils, but our founder Kim also makes herself accessible on social media. She goes live during our weekly Ask Me Anything sessions that we’ve aptly titled, “Wash + Go Wednesdays”, we communicate day-in and day-out on Facebook, and our customer service is impeccable.
